Moments That Matter: Team Panasonic’s Nathan Chen Delivers Special Moment for Long-time Employee and Family
At Panasonic, we are passionate about what we do to move the world forward and are equally as passionate about the people who make it happen. Our people-first approach to business means we’re all about showing gratitude for our employees, and their families, who help us achieve success year-over-year. It was a regular Monday at the Peach Tree City facility for Ron Seville, an 18-year engineer for Panasonic Automotive Systems of America (PASA), when he received an impromptu invite to meet with PASA President Scott Kirchner and Vice President of Human Resources Stephen Childs.
Kirchner and Childs welcomed Seville into the conference room and began the meeting by sharing their appreciation for his hard work and leadership spanning across his career with PASA.
What came next, Seville would have never expected. The team offered Seville an opportunity to surprise his daughter Anna with a special meet and greet with Team Panasonic’s Nathan Chen at) our North American headquarters in Newark, NJ. Anna, a 21-year-old engineering student at the University of Rochester and avid figure skating fan, would be over the moon to meet him!
Here at Panasonic Automotive, our employees are at the core of everything we do,” said Scott Kirchner, President. “I could not be more thrilled to be able to offer this once in a lifetime opportunity to one of our longtime employees that has done so much to contribute to the success of our company.
Ron convinced his daughter she would be attending a special employee award ceremony with him in Newark, NJ and then stay the weekend for some local sightseeing. The truth was that Ron and his family would be attending a special employee celebration event, where Nathan would be in attendance and ultimately invite Anna and her family to join him for his Stars on Ice performance at the Prudential Center that evening.
Being able to share the moment when my daughter met Nathan Chen, who she looks up to and reveres, was priceless. I have truly never seen her with as much joy and awe as when she was able to personally speak with him,” said Ron. “Opportunities like this, where my company goes above and beyond not only for me, but my family, makes feel valued and proud to be a Panasonic employee.”
When the day arrived, Ron arrived to the office with Anna and family in tow. After a brief welcome and intro from PNA Chief Human Resources Officer, Linda Woodruff, the doors across the lobby opened to the tune of Elton John’s Rocket Man (a song that has become synonymous with the Gold Medalist since winning it all the Winter Games), and Chen emerged!
Following a one-on-one discussion about his experience at the Games, building a winning team, and balance, Chen would turn to Anna (seated just a few feet away) and personally invite her and her family to his performance that evening.
This all just a day in the #LifeAtPanasonic.
