How Patricia Finds Inspiration to Get Better Year After Year
Meet Patricia Clark, Senior Account Manager, a member of Panasonic’s world-class sales organization. As we kick-off the new year, she shares about what she’s learned on her career journey and what she hopes to accomplish personally and professionally to make 2022 her best year yet.
The end of 2021 marked my 10-year work anniversary at Panasonic.
Year-over-year, I have always had the habit of taking the time to write down my new-year career goals on a piece of paper (yes, I’m old fashioned when writing from the heart). This time, I decided to start off by looking back 10 years ago, before deciding what I want for 2022.
I must say, it felt like I was watching my memories and life events on a movie screen. From business trips around the world, meeting countless talented, educated, and FUN people, these experiences provided me with unique multicultural management abilities, that continues to benefit my sales career today. I have the privilege to manage the beautiful and diverse territory of South Florida.
As you can imagine, the things I’ve listed above never quite made it to my ‘typical’ list of goals. Each year, I’ve always stuck with more tangible measures, like “meeting or exceeding” the sales goals that were assigned to me. Plus, be promoted, expand my network of contacts, participate on a project…and keeping these goals to be recurrent. I have been fortunate enough to accomplish them, with the amazing support of my management team and co-workers, and that I know for a fact, are there to ensure our success.
Now it is time to look ahead again. COVID hit all of us, with huge impact in and around our lives. Despite the challenges we continue to face, I feel strong. This company is strong, and I’m ready to renew my commitment with Panasonic and make 2022 a great year.
One of the things I love about working at Panasonic is that we’re able to have autonomy when it comes to achieving achieve our professional and personal goals. And I must say my first career goal is to take care of my health. Yes, you read it right: a healthy me equals a better sales professional with the energy and creativity to tackle the business challenges that will come my way.
Goal #1: Feel my best, so I can do my best.
This year, I’m also focused on making a significant, tangible, and measurable impact on “my business” (yes, that’s the right frame of mind to manage your territory – manage it as if it is your own business).
What I am also doing different this year, is to spell out the real reason behind each goal, and those are personal reasons that will be my “fuel” to get me there. For example, “sell $1M worth of services in one quarter, and deposit that commission check in my child’s college fund. “
When you feel supported and empowered by a company to succeed, setting goals is almost as fun as achieving them. Here’s to another great year as a member of the Panasonic team!
