The Position: 

Panasonic Avionics takes entertainment and connectivity to new heights. We’re the world’s leading supplier of (IFEC) inflight entertainment and communications systems that allow passengers access to live TV, movies, music, interactive games, maps, and much more!  We’re also expanding our award-winning connectivity network into the LEO space.  

We are looking for a motivated, driven, and collaborative Software Engineer with experience in embedded software development to join a talented team that conducts research, design and development of software running on Linux OS to power our latest products. 



  • Hardware and software integration of new and/or existing systems, functions and LRUs designed by the Development Engineering and the S/W Development groups.
  • Plan, lead, and participate in test and integration activities for assigned LRU and system functionality. Participate in technical coordination meetings and design reviews. Interface with 3rd party suppliers to ensure delivered software/hardware and applications integrate with Panasonic Avionics In-flight Entertainment (IFE) systems.
  • Work closely with software developers, product management, project managers to ensure product quality and delivery schedules are met.
  • Provide leadership and/or technical guidance to lower-level engineers, designers and support personnel as assigned.
  • Ensure all testing, engineering, functional block diagrams and data/logic flow charts properly documented, submitted, and reviewed.
  • Responsible for the integration and maintenance of a test rack configuration with regards to the systems installation.
  • Supports system test programs and analyzes system testing results.
  • Participate in design, development, and requirements reviews for complex systems requiring extensive investigation and clarification.
  • Participate in all efforts in the testing and regression testing of software/hardware releases.
  • Develop test plans based on researching software/hardware requirements documentation to develop a test strategy to ensure delivered content meets product requirements and objectives.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze root cause of any system anomalies/discrepancies in hardware and/or software.


The salary or hourly wage range of $90,000 – $151,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.   


What We’re Looking For: 

Required Skills 

  • Experience Python, Javascript or similar languages.
  • Experience in a SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) like role is desired.
  • CI/CD integrations of automated tests Experience and Hands on Skills with Gitlab and CI / CD Pipelines or similar.
  • Shell Scripting, Unix/Linux, MySQL
  • Understanding of the networking protocols TCP/UDP/IP/HTTP/SNMP/DHCP/DNS/802.1x and familiarity with VLANs and basic switching and routing concepts.
  • Solid technical background in software development lifecycle.
  • Solid level of knowledge, background and understanding of Windows and Linux OS. Knowledgeable with systems administrator capabilities and command language for Linux.
  • Proven ability in developing and implementing test methods and procedures.
  • Resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.
  • Ability to interact with senior internal and external personnel.
  • Excellent writing and strong communication skills with proactive attitude.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-function teams to achieve positive results and perform as a technical expert and source of information. Provide leadership and/or technical guidance to other engineers.
  • Ability to develop technical approach or design, resource, allocation, or time schedule on projects.


Recommended Skills 

  • Experience in a SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) like role is desired.
  • Aircraft engineering or avionics industry related experience.
  • Shall have experienced Internet Group Management Protocol
  • Solid understanding in any database language a plus.
  • Familiarity with satellite networks, antenna systems and related communication protocols is desirable.
  • Familiarity with software development aviation processes (AS9100/DO-178C) is desired.
  • Strong Written English and Verbal English Communication Skills
  • Automation Knowledge of Behavior Driven Development (BDD) is a plus.
  • Experience with PyCharm, Visual Studio code, Jama and/or Jira
  • Experience and Hands on Skills with AWS Products such as Data Lake, Kinesis S3 Firehouse, Cloud Storage S3, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, App Engine, Cloud SQL, EC2, ECS, Lambda.
  • Agile / Scrum certification or proven experience practicing Agile software development principles is desired.



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or
  • Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of related experience.
  • IFE and/or Avionics industry-related experience is preferred.



  • Ability to travel to domestic or international locations as required, up to 10% of the time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Majority of time spent at test rack (50-75%) which includes standing, lifting, bending, twisting, and stooping.
