The position: This position is for stress and payload team, fully experienced in structural analysis and testing aircraft cabin interiors, including Structures and In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems. Fully experienced preparing/providing FEM (finite element analysis), hand calculations and preparing technical documentation and coordinating/conducting various types of testing, also managing certification related issues with various other departments. - Generate Structural Test Plan, Qualification Plan, and establishing Qualification Basis for various OEMs (Airframe manufacture) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well as European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
- Ability to do stress and structural analysis and FEM is a plus.
- Interface and discuss with FAA, EASA, and OEMs to obtain approval by providing convincing argument on Flammability Test Plans/Procedure, Structural Test Plan/Procedure, Qualification Plan, and establishing Qualification Basis.
- Work with various engineering groups – Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electro-Magnetic Interference to help evaluate selection of new materials for Line Replacement Units (LRU) and Commodities that are compliant with FAA, EASA, and OEM flammability, smoke and toxicity requirement, structural substantiation, stress and qualification plan.
- Understands product development and schedule impact from inception to production.
- Ensure all related documentation [drawings, test plans, Enterprise Change Requests (ECRs), Enterprise Change Order (ECOs), and Notice of Change (NOCs)] are technically accurate and consistent before release.
- Involved with industry group, such as SAE international, RTCA, Material’s working group, and within company on standardization and process improvement.
- Attend preliminary and critical design reviews to ensure thermal and structural suggestions were implemented properly.
- Responsible for the successful completion of qualification tests in a timely manner.
- Ensure technical correctness, accuracy, documentation and release qualification reports as well as substantiation documentation
- Ensure and advice pre-qualification (engineering tests) to identify failures during product development and provide technical solutions to problems.
- Work with test engineer/technicians to define test setup and perform vibration tests, environmental test, flammability test, smoke/leak/cooling tests, and structural tests.
- Coordinate the selection and ordering of parts, materials and vendor relations with Procurement, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Obsolescence, and Material Planning departments.
- Update Design and Development schedules and assigned tasks working with Project Managers, Team Leaders, and Engineering Managers.
- Ensure correctness on technical approach & qualification plan.
- Create / update certification process/procedures and best practices and implement “lessons learned” for the department.
- Ability to interface with airline seat vendors to understand installations configurations, foresee issues and develop solutions to system installation thermal or structural challenges.

What we're looking for:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or equivalent Degree, Masters or PhD are a plus.
- 5 years of experience in Aerospace engineering payload or certification process.
- 4 years in In-Flight Entertainment or equivalent cabin interior related field.
- Ability to perform pre-qualification (engineering tests) to identify failures during product development and provide technical solutions to problems.
- Multi-task between developing projects and sustaining projects.
- Understand detailed mechanical drawings and exploded views.
- Must thoroughly understand, Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier certification and Airworthiness requirements pertaining to Flammability, Smoke and Toxicity, Structural Test Plan, Qualification Plan, and establishing Qualification Basis.
- In-Depth knowledge of DO-160 and FAR 25, specifically for compliance to 14 CFR 25.1309, 25.1353, 25.853, 25.855 & 25.859
- Understands 14 CFR 25.561, 25.601, 25.603, 25.605, 25.607, 25.609, 25.611, 25.613, 25.621, 25.625, & 25.789
- Understand aircraft seat certification for 14 CFR 25.561, 14 CFR 25.562, and 14 CFR 25.785
- Analyze problems using conventional (analysis) and computerized techniques.
- Skillful in developing and implementing analysis and test methods/procedures
- Ability to integrate information from more than one discipline (ME, EE, EMI, Product Planning & Manufacturing Engineering) to achieve results or successfully complete difficult and challenging assignments within a specialized field.

- Ability to travel to Japan and other domestic and international locations approximately 15% of the time.
