5 Things To Know Before Interviewing With Panasonic
5 Things To Know Before Interviewing With Panasonic
You’ve likely spent a few weeks scouring the internet for the right position. After tailoring your resume and completing an application, it finally happens.
You get contacted to set up an interview with the recruiting team and hiring manager. It’s go-time!
So, how do you ace the seemingly daunting 30-minute Q&A? Afterall, there is a lot riding on this initial conversation with a potential employer.
Below, members of the Panasonic team share 5 things you should know before heading into an interview with our team.
-
We’re more than a consumer electronics company. Many of our candidates come in with the perception of Panasonic producing consumer electronics: TVs, radios, cameras. That is the Panasonic of 20 years ago. Today, our business spans across several divisions and we create many different products, including navigation systems, aviation solutions, refrigeration, air conditioning systems and more. We’re also proud to partner with Tesla through the work in our Gigafactory in Reno, NV. Familiarize yourself with some of our most recent work to ensure you’re putting your best foot forward.
-
Make sure you understand the job requirements. After reviewing the job description, you should be able to clearly articulate how your experience aligns directly to the role. Bring clear examples of projects you’ve worked on or be prepared to speak to how your skillset will benefit the team. Articulate your value and what you’ll bring to the table as a Panasonic employee to really stand out.
-
Do your homework on your interviewer. The internet is a powerful tool – use it to your benefit. Take a few minutes to look up your interviewer on LinkedIn to better understand their background, role and interests. Are you alumni of the same university? Worked with a previous colleague or have a mutual connection? You never know what commonalities you may be able to bring up in the interview.
-
Don’t be afraid to ask questions...and answer them. By asking you questions, we’re trying to get a better understanding of your experiences and how your skillset best aligns with the role. Be sure to keep your answers clear and concise. Anything longer than two minutes and you’ll lose the interest of the interviewer. It’s just as important for you to interview us! Have a list of 3-5 questions about role expectations, growth or culture ready to ask.
-
Show your interest. By putting in a little bit of extra effort after your interview, you can make a great first impression. Send personalized “thank you" notes to each person you spoke with. Bonus points if you can tailor your note to circle back to specific conversation points and topics! Looking for their e-mail address? Don’t be afraid to ask your recruiter – they want to help you succeed!
