Connected vehicles and vehicle to everything, V2X, technology are poised to radically transform the transportation industry. Cirrus by Panasonic is a cloud-based data aggregation and insights IoT platform processing 200M transactions per day and bringing together the digital and physical worlds to make transportation safer and more efficient. Cirrus empowers traffic operators and fleet managers with real time actionable information about vehicles, roadways, and infrastructure to positively impact the safety and mobility of vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians.

 Cloud Engineering Manager:

The Cloud Engineering Manager is responsible for providing leadership in cloud development and security to support delivery of new SaaS products for our customers in the transportation market. This role will manage a 5 person software engineering team by removing obstacles, identifying risks, and facilitating communication with cross functional stakeholders in edge engineering, data analytics engineering, data science, and quantitative research to plan development cycles and process improvements to the Software Development Life Cycle ,SDLC.

 What You'll Get to Do:    

1.Execution

Create and maintain scalable, cost effective cloud architecture for a high volume IoT platform.

Ensure compliance with security, SOC 2, etc., best practices and regulations.

Oversee Cloud, front end, back end, QA, etc., development team, reviewing and approving team assignments.

Contribute technically to projects, feature development, code reviews, and architecture design.

Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and services in close collaboration with your team and stakeholders.

Own technical debt backlog and maintain short term roadmaps to reduce overall debt.

Provide technical expertise for debugging of technology deployed by Cirrus to Panasonic customers.

2. Strategy

Participate in strategy meetings to provide ideas, technical feedback, and estimates for proposed strategic initiatives.

Report on deliverable status timeline, technical issues, system operations, and new product development.

Own and drive continuous improvement across the SDLC leveraging new and best practices in the industry.

Monitor KPIs, including reliability and performance of all internal systems to suggest improvements.

3. Management

Hire, train, and manage a 5 person geographically dispersed cloud engineering team.

Drive engagement and continuous improvement through 1 on 1 meetings, team meetings, and retrospectives.

Pair with members of your team to unblock and be a force multiplier.

Provide leadership by removing obstacles, identifying risks, and facilitating cross-team communications for interdependent deliverables.

 

What You'll Bring:  

BS, MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical program preferred.

5 plus years managing software development in a multi tenant cloud environment, AWS highly preferred.

1 to 3 years experience in engineering team leadership and engineering resource allocation.

Proven track record of implementing efficient processes for SDLC to support SaaS product development.

Hands on experience with cloud architecture development to meet product performance requirements.

Hands on experience in back end and front end development.

Hands on experience supporting and managing a Quality Assurance process.

Experience in networking and security, certifications preferred.

Experience maintaining high volume IoT platforms preferred.

Agile experience required, certifications preferred.

 

Competencies

Experience in development of engineering documentation.

Experience in setting and communicating clear expectations and outcomes, both internally and when interfacing with third parties outside the company.

Ability to lead and find consensus among various points of view and ability to influence others outside your direct reports.

Proven ability to lead and influence change in the face of complexity and ambiguity.

Experience building custom technical management tools, processes, and workflows, JIRA and Confluence preferred.

Experience in remote management of technical teams.

 

Other Requirements

Up to 10 percent travel required, US domestic.
