The Product Manager is the subject matter expert and manages all go-to-market activities and roadmap planning related to the microphone, receiver, and speaker product portfolio to gain market share and profitability. This portfolio includes a wearable microphone with built-in smart applications for audio and video capture and transmission as well as triggers for security alerts. The Product Manager is responsible for the end-to-end development and lifecycle management of hardware and software solutions, from initial concept through to launch and beyond. The product portfolio for which this individual is responsible includes new ODM development, existing third-party products, and original hardware and software development. An individual contributor, this position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that Panasonic products meet market demands and align with the company’s strategic goals. Those teams will include other Panasonic product managers, engineering, design, marketing, and sales, as well as third-party contacts
Responsibilities
What you will get to do:
- Day-to-day activities include, but are not limited to managing third party relationships, promotion planning, marketing communication, life-cycle management, SKU and price management, monthly demand forecasting, non-standard sales quote validation, inventory management, competitive analysis, product training and education, and sales/partner support.
- Product Strategy and Vision: Develop and articulate a clear product vision and strategy for audio equipment and smart wearable devices. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and opportunities. Define product roadmaps and prioritize features based on user needs and business goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to integrate third-party services and applications. Work closely with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer support teams to ensure successful product development and launch. Lead the ODM process, including defining product specs, pricing, and manufacturing plans. Identify and negotiate with third-party vendors to create successful sales partnerships including any additional product development and addressing technical or legal challenges.
- Requirements Definition: Gather, analyze, and prioritize product requirements from stakeholders, ensuring that both technical and user-focused perspectives are considered.
- Product Development: Lead the product development lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products. Define product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Oversee the design and user experience to ensure a seamless and intuitive user interface.
- Project Management: Lead product development timelines, ensuring milestones are met and resources are effectively allocated.
- Integration with Security Networks: Ensure that wearable devices integrate effectively with existing security networks and systems. Work with communications experts to implement robust security features and protocols.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing updates on product status, challenges, and successes.
- Testing and Validation: Oversee the testing phases to ensure product quality and functionality meet specifications, including alpha/beta testing with users.
- Launch Strategy: Develop go-to-market strategies, including pricing, positioning, and promotional plans, to maximize product adoption and success. Since Panasonic is entering a market with established competitors, it is essential to build a market development and sales strategy based on thorough competitive analysis and differentiation factors.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor product performance and user feedback to identify areas for improvement. Implement data-driven decision-making to optimize product features and user experience. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on product success metrics.
- Innovation and Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in audio and wearable technology. Identify and evaluate new technologies and features to enhance product offerings.
What You Bring:
Basic Qualifications
Scope:
- Technical hardware/software background with the ability to communicate with Product Engineering and Product Planning teams and translate complex concepts into product requirements and marketing terms.
- Proven experience in market analysis and providing product direction to factory R&D / Engineering teams.
- Proven success in launching new product, market messaging and product life cycle management.
- Experience managing pricing and programs for channel (distribution and resellers), and direct customers.
Education & Experience:
- Proven track record of successfully launching and managing technology products.
- College degree desired in Computer Science, Engineering or Business Development.
- 3+ years or equivalent experience in Product Management or Engineering, preferably with a focus on audio equipment or wearable technology.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of DSP, software, and firmware development processes, with a proven track record of managing complex technical products.
- Strong understanding of audio technology, including microphones, receivers, and speakers.
- Experience with smart device platforms such as Wear OS, watchOS, or Tizen OS.
- Experience working with Original Design Manufacturers.
- MBA or advanced degree in a related field.
- Conversational ability in Japanese.
