Empowering Heroes: How Panasonic Supports Veterans Nationwide

The transition from military to civilian life significantly influences the lives of veterans and their families. With more than 150,000 active-duty service members leaving the U.S. military each year, support for our veterans is crucial as they navigate this change. At Panasonic, supporting veterans and their families is an integral part of our company culture. Through the tireless efforts of our Veterans Business Impact Group (BIG), we are honored to collaborate with nonprofits and participate in activities that uplift those who have served our country.

Explore this past year, full of inspiring moments that reflect our commitment to veterans as they navigate their journeys and what is yet to come.

Sponsoring Veteran Families During the Holidays

In December 2023, Panasonic’s Legal Department partnered with Soldier’s Angels to sponsor military and veteran families during the holiday season. This initiative assisted veterans and their loved ones during this special time of year.

Supporting Veteran Nonprofits

In Spring 2024, the Veterans BIG distributed $10,000 in donations to three vital organizations serving veterans: Semper Fi & America’s Fund, The Headstrong Project and Soldier’s Angels. These funds directly supported the care and rehabilitation of wounded service members and provided crucial mental health services to veterans and their families.

Over the summer, our team assembled Caregiver Comfort Bags for families of wounded service members, donated to Semper Fi & America’s Fund. This heartfelt initiative was in collaboration with retired U.S. Marine Vanessa Keane.

Honoring Veterans on Patriot Day

On Patriot Day, September 11th, several Panasonic offices honored veterans by participating in cemetery cleanups through Carry the Load, an organization dedicated to restoring the meaning of Memorial Day. Teams from Panasonic Automotive in Georgia, Michigan, and New Jersey volunteered.

Veterans Fishing Organization

Panasonic Automotive in Georgia donated $4,000 to the local nonprofit Veterans Fishing Organization, supporting their mission to provide veterans with therapeutic fishing experiences that promote opportunities for recreation and renewal.

Virtual Volunteering with Goodera

In partnership with Goodera, volunteers created fact cards about women who have served in the U.S. Military, supporting organizations like United Military Care, Soldier’s Angels, and Vets of Hope. This project reflects our commitment to amplifying the stories of women veterans who have made a profound impact on our country.

Serving Meals at the Veterans Guest House

Panasonic Energy North America (PENA) actively supports the Veterans Guest House in Reno, serving meals and participating in their recent fashion show. The team will return to serve another meal November 2024, continuing their direct involvement with the local veteran community.

Engaging with Veterans at the Vets Indexes Conference and Beyond

Cherie Johnston, Senior Analyst of Panasonic Avionics and president of our Veterans BIG, had the honor of moderating a session at the Vets Indexes conference, where discussions centered on supporting veterans in the workforce. Attending the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) annual conference in Washington, D.C., aided in strengthening connections with our Panasonic Toughbook team and exploring new ways to support veterans.

Future Initiatives

Looking ahead, we are excited to participate in Wreaths Across America in December, a tradition many Panasonic team members have embraced, as we honor our veterans by placing wreaths on their graves during the holiday season. We’re also gearing up for a virtual drive organized by the Office of Social Impact to support Semper Fi & America’s Fund, among other activities to recognize Veterans Day.

Panasonic’s Frontline Leadership series remains a key element in our efforts to bridge the gap between military and civilian careers. Featuring live interviews with active-duty and retired U.S. military leaders, this series offers Panasonic employees a chance to learn valuable leadership lessons and gain insight into the unique experiences of military personnel.

Through these initiatives, Panasonic continues to honor, support, and uplift veterans and their families. We are proud of the contributions our teams make and look forward to expanding our efforts to serve those who have served our country.
