How to Stand Out During Your Summer Internship with Panasonic
How to Stand Out During Your Summer Internship with Panasonic
Are you a college or university student interested in getting real-world professional experience? Across Panasonic, we offer students the opportunity to make a real impact with their work during our summer program.
Whether you’re working on an engineering project at the Gigafactory in Reno, NV or helping drive business objectives in our North American headquarters in Newark, NJ, you’ll have the opportunity to do hands-on, real work.
Panasonic interns come from schools across the United States, bringing their fresh perspectives and ideas to the table. Throughout the summer program, students get first-hand experience working in their field of study, learning from some of the best and brightest minds, and the opportunity to network with professionals and leaders in the technology industry.
“Internships are such a vital part to a student’s development as a professional. These opportunities allow for an organization to learn about who you are, but also for you to learn about the company you may want to work for one day. At Panasonic, we want to make sure we’re setting our interns up for success, no matter their role,” shares Reagan Rozario, Recruiter and Intern Program Manager at Panasonic Energy of North America.
As we kick-off our Summer 2022 Internship Program, Reagan is sharing her advice to help our students succeed.
Don’t be afraid to ask too many questions: Coming in as an intern with limited experience, there’s going to be a learning curve when it comes to understanding our business, and we get it! We are here to help you! The goal of this program is to develop your skillset and understanding, so that you feel ready to pursue full-time opportunities. The more questions you ask, the more you can learn along the way!
Network with your peers: Never shy away from the opportunity to meet someone new – whether it’s a fellow intern, someone on your team or someone outside of your department! Speaking with professionals in the field will help you get a better understanding of your interests and what career paths are out there.
Ask for feedback: Feedback can be intimidating, right? I’ll admit it’s not my favorite subject either. Don’t be afraid to ask for feedback on your projects or ideas you may have. Use it as a learning opportunity and a way to uncover ways to improve your hard and soft skills. Remember, it’s up to you how you use the feedback and input you receive – continuous improvement is the key to success!
Failure happens – learn from it: Stay curious and be a sponge. Now is the time to learn new things and be exposed to a variety of new experiences. You won’t have all the answers and you’ll make a few mistakes along the way, but that’s okay. Mistakes and failure happen to everyone, no matter how long you’ve been working. At Panasonic, we look for bright spots and learning opportunities.
Own your experience: I cannot express this enough – your internship is what you make of it, so own this thing from start to finish! Take the initiative, be proactive and seek out the opportunities you want. Use downtime to assist with a new project, hop into a meeting to gain new understanding of the business, attend a networking event and work the room!
