About The Role:

Yohana is looking for an experienced UX Design Lead to join our design team, focused on leading the design system for our full product suite. As a member of Yohana’s Design team, you’ll work closely with other designers, researchers, and our Product and Engineering teams to bring consistency and simplicity to member experiences. You’re passionate about design details and think in systems, not just screens. You’ll empower designers and developers while solving meaningful problems and creating new design patterns and paradigms. You are detail oriented, understand pixel perfection,
and can work independently under tight deadlines.

What You’ll Get To Do:
  • Conceptualize, define, design, and maintain a visual system across web, mobile/responsive web, iOS, and Android platforms
  • You understand the importance of both interaction and visual design finesse
  • Work with research and product design partners to drive a continual cycle of design system iteration and improvements
  • Create standardized components and patterns for the system in collaboration with the product design team and business leaders
  • Experience in developing products for the Japanese market (app development experience preferred) and an understanding of design work in Japanese.
  • Document usage guidelines and specs for components and patterns within the system
  • Partner with engineers to build, ship, and update components in efficient ways
  • Develop processes to maintain, evolve and improve the design system
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, PM, marketing and other teams in the company to evangelize the design system
What You’ll Bring:
  • 5+ years of experience designing products across web, iOS, and Android
  • 1-2 years of experience working on design systems
  • 5+ years of creative experience designing and shipping products in Japanese
  • A 4-year degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience
  • Exceptional interaction and visual design skills with an eye for accessibility, localization, and motion
  • Understands accessibility and usability for end-users
  • Expert knowledge of Figma and prototyping tools
  • Ability to communicate design rationale with the internal team and stakeholders
  • Experience working across web, mobile and tablet application interfaces. Hardware experience is a plus.
  • Experience in delivering web and app designs and implementations for the Japanese market.
