These include supermarkets, mass merchants, warehouse clubs, convenience stores, drug stores, and foodservice establishments.

The company is looking for an accountant I or II with strong accounting and analytical skills to perform day-to-day accounting duties, month end closing cycles, and assist in providing accurate financial information in a timely manner to management in accordance with GAAP. The accountant plays a key role in the monthly close process.  The accountant should identify and lead continuous improvement opportunities with direction from department supervision.  The accountant should have a desire and passion to be a team player.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the monthly financial closing process, which includes, but is not limited to:
    • Journal entries for related inter-company charges for various S&A distributions
    • Journal entries for Intercompany Sales, COGS, AP, AR reclassification
    • Journal entries for warranty reclassification
    • Journal entries Inventory and work in process reconciliation
    • Journal Entries for quarterly reserve adjustments
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations
  • Fixed Assets reporting
    • Record the cost of newly acquired assets, track existing assets, record depreciation, and the disposition of assets
  • Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Gain an understanding of the cost and productivity drivers of factory operations and learn the key financial metrics and methods of analysis.
  • Investigate and recommend process and profitability improvement initiatives
  • May need to provide AP, AR, & invoicing support where needed. 
  • Lead special projects and complete other ad-hoc requests

Accountant I Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required
  • 0 - 2 years’ experience in general ledger environment
  • Basic understanding of cost accounting principles, costing experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Excel required (Pivot Table, V Lookup, and other formulas)
  • Experience with large ERP Systems a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail oriented, highly motivated and customer service oriented
  • Strong analytic skills, ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed

Accountant II Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in general ledger environment
  • Basic understanding of cost accounting principles, costing experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Excel required (Pivot Table, V Lookup, and other formulas)
  • Experience with large ERP Systems a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail oriented, highly motivated and customer service oriented
  • Strong analytic skills, ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently
