The position:

The Sr. DevOps Engineer - Delivery Operations Architect (SRE, GitOps) will build out Platform Application Sandbox logging, monitoring, operations standards & best practices for GitOps delivery model to scale our customer applications via automated "delivery ops" to thousands of aircraft.  Support escalations and train up offshore Ops teams. Support Fleet Management Architect deliverables. As a member of the platform development team, you will have the opportunity to explore the latest technologies with global impact.  We enjoy a fast paced, creative learning culture built on diverse talent and collaborative problem solving.


What we're looking for:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


DevOps Engineering

  • Take an automation first approach to streamline processes.
  • Design and maintain architectural strategies, support, and system documentation.
  • Build and extend cluster management of diverse compute environments.
  • Create cloud like application profiles.
  • Develop CI pipeline architectures utilizing managed clusters.
  • Develop infrastructure as code (AWS and/or Azure) using best practices and implementations for production environments.
  • Develop utilities which improve productivity in delivery orchestration, proactive monitoring, self-healing automation, high availability, performance, monitoring, backup, restore, etc.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years systems engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as an established member of DevOps/SRE teams, and with a proven track record of successfully delivering services and reducing waste.
  • 10+ years of experience in Linux/Unix environments.
  • One or more of the following desired:
      • AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification
      • AWS SysOps Administrator Associate Certification
      • AWS DevOps Engineer Professional Certification
      • AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification
      • AWS Advanced Networking Specialty
  • IFE System Development experience is a plus.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Application Monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, Logstash
  • Applications: Containers - docker or podman
  • Application Deployment: Helm or Kompose
  • Application Delivery: Fleet, GitOps
  • Cluster Orchestration: Kubernetes
  • CI + Testing: Gitlab pipelines
  • Expertise in virtualized environment set-up, maintenance and ongoing development (KVM).
  • Expertise in configuration management systems (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Expertise in secret management systems (HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager).
  • Expertise in one of the programming languages (Python, GoLang, Ruby, JavaScript).
  • Expertise in Services Oriented Architectures plus their operations
  • Advanced Bash scripting
  • Knowledge of cloud oriented Software Engineering best practices (DRY, 12Factor...).
  • Experience in Agile practices and methodologies.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional travel, less than 5%. The job may require travel from time-to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties
