As a Supply Manager of Copper ($7.5M), Aluminum ($7.3M), Heat Exchangers ($14.5M) and other Components ($1.1M) for Hussmann, you will be responsible to create and execute global long-range strategy for a $31.5M complex portfolio spend that support Global supply chain objectives around growth, innovation, quality, cost, service, and operational excellence. This position requires technical knowledge in these commodities that enable optimized financial, quality, strategic and product life cycle change results for Hussmann. This is a visible role that interfaces across internal functions including but not limited to product management, engineering, new product development, supplier development, operating plants, materials, legal and finance, and Senior Leadership. In addition, as the leader of your category, you will own the strategic supplier relationships critical to all categories of spend.

  • Develop and execute strategic, global multi-year plans in co-ordination with Sourcing Director by leveraging all sourcing enablers including cost analysis, low cost country sourcing, VA/VE (substitution, standardization, weight reduction etc..), and make vs. buy to drive operational excellence in quality, productivity, innovation and working capital.
  • Lead business intelligence for this area of spend including global market trends (technology, capacity, materials etc.) competitive benchmarking, and other critical market metrics that will drive our organization to world class.
  • Support product evolution and innovation by actively participating in cross-functional teams and by supporting the New Product Development Process (NPD).
  • Manage the Change Flow activities (Teamcenter) and drive the completion of the tasks as required.
  • Lead supplier relationships and develop long term agreements that accelerate our innovation deliverables and operational targets including material productivity, capacity, service, quality and working capital.
  • Serve as liaison with plants, and other functions in cross-functional tasks.
  • Collect the needs and manage the commodity needs in line with the business and technical roadmap strategies in collaboration with all functions.
  • Proactively support resolution of issues escalated to Supply Manager’s level through efficient and effective expediting if required and with emphasis on improving supplier direct response to plants and solving the root cause with SQE Team.
  • Investigate and support resolution and follow up on supply chain problems and quality issues.
  • Conduct plants and supplier visits as required.
  • Develop productivity pipeline projects to deliver DM productivity goals established in each managed commodity (compressors, valves, tanks).

 

Requirements

  • BS Degree Required, MBA Degree preferably in business or technical discipline or equivalent with a qualification in purchasing/negotiating (CPM)
  • 7 + years’ experience in sourcing of technical commodities is preferred or related technical engineering field, preferably mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • Fluency in English, a working knowledge of any other language would be an advantage; sourcing experience in other cultures.
  • Very strong negotiating skills coupled with excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
