Panasonic Energy of North America (PENA) is collaborating with Tesla Motors, Inc. in a large-scale advanced battery manufacturing facility known as the Gigafactory near Reno, Nevada which is known for its quality of life and expansive outdoor adventures. Panasonic manufactures and supplies cylindrical lithium-ion cells for the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, Tesla Motors, Inc. Based on the battery demand from Tesla, the Gigafactory plans to produce cells which will double the world’s current production.
Our mission at PENA is to make the vision of affordable Electric Vehicles a reality by production of the world’s safest, highest-quality, and lowest-cost batteries.  Through this effort we will create a clean energy society and our products will change society’s use of and perceptions of electric power.


Responsibilities Include:


  • Enabling the PENA business to communicate more clearly and manage change in a structured manner.
  • Designing and deploying an ISO-9001 and ISO-14001 compliant Engineering Change Management system.
  • Establishing data security models, managing group & user administration, and replication servers.
  • Developing cross-platform metadata standards that apply specifically to Gigafactory operations.
  • Managing software integrations and API applications within the CAD and PDM scopes.
  • Establishing budgets and forecasts, purchasing and managing software licenses as needed.
  • Constructing project schedules and reporting progress to management.
  • Forcefully driving to a paperless workplace.
  • Establishing and maintaining storage architecture, distribution methods, and retention policies.
  • Implementing Business Process Control using PDM Workflows.
  • Creating effective metadata (data cards), search mechanisms, and revision control.
  • Developing integrations between PDM, SAP, MES and other systems.
  • Establishing PDM Analytics to provide visibility to management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from a four-year college or university.
  • Strong working knowledge of Solidworks, PDM Administration, BIM, and Six-Sigma methodology.
  • Programming experience using Solidworks API &VB.NET, SQL, VBA, and XML.
  • Experience with SAP Material Management (MM) and understanding of MRP systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with SolidWorks and PDM software.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in the implementation and upkeep of ISO-9001 and ISO-14001 standards.
  • Japanese speaking and writing fluency is a huge plus.
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP).
