Senior EHS Manager

Union Experience is Required for this role. To develop, implement, coordinate and monitor employee safety programs aimed at prevention and early intervention. Provide Leadership for strategic safety initiatives. Areas of responsibility include regulatory compliance in ESH, ergonomics, worksite safety practices, workers compensation and safety documentation. Maintain reporting and recordkeeping requirements for all EPA regulatory requirements.

  • Strategically work with senior plant leadership to establish and sustain a zero incident culture
  • Provides expertise during concept and design phases of manufacturing processes to ensure that sound Health Safety & Environmental control methodologies are integrated into design
  • Lead /participate in root cause safety investigations as necessary as well as any environmental incidents and ensure that all required reports are made in a timely and accurate manner
  • Manages interactions with outside Safety & Environmental support / consulting groups and regulatory agency personnel
  • Oversight of on-site nurse and oversight of responsibilities
    • Responsible for Policy oversight at Bridgeton Mo facility
  • Provide strategic technical support to the plant Leadership Team and plant personnel in the day-to-day operations
  • Accountable for supporting and completing departmental goals
  • Conduct routine audits to identify any deficiencies and develop appropriate corrective actions to assure the protection of the environment and maintaining full compliance with applicable government regulations, permits, Health Safety & Environmental policies and procedures
  • Develop and give safety & environmental presentations to Plant and Senior Leadership
  • Effectively interfaces with personnel at all organizational levels and state or federal regulators
  • Conducts safety & environmental assessments and recommends mitigation methods as warranted
  • Establish and maintain EHS documentation and record keeping
  • Utilize problem solving tools and behavior-based safety strategies, as well as other innovative strategies to guide injury prevention efforts and continuously improve safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with State, Federal and Corporate Health Safety & Environmental guidelines
  • Directs the site environmental programs (Title V, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), SWPP, TRI, etc.


  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred), in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other engineering discipline, Health & Safety Science or related field
  • Union experience required
  • 10 years experience working in Industrial environment with responsibilities in a Health, Safety & Environmental function
  • 3 + years of management experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of air regulations due to complex Title V permit
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound recommendations, decisions, and project plans that secure the continuing operation of the business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (training/presentation, team collaboration and communication) with the ability to influence others
  • Strong OSHA knowledge and understanding
  • Knowledge of Environmental management systems such as RC/ISO 14001 desirable
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a changing environment to meet customer and business needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels within the organization and regulatory agencies
