Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in primarily cross-functional contexts
  • Responsible for building and supporting Cloud Native workflow across our global network to unify delivery across both premises and public clouds
  • Work as contributor in the DevOps team to design immutable and autonomic infrastructure, deployment automation and monitoring to ensure systems are simple to use, orchestrated, highly visible, highly available, elastically scalable, fault tolerant and meet performance expectations
  • Engineer and orchestrate Docker-based Development, Delivery, Container Services, Operations & Monitoring capabilities.
  • Participate in technical discussions
  • Work with Technical Publications teams to create documentation and training material to guide the development teams’ successful transition to Container-based CI/CD methodologies

Additional Responsibilities:

Automation:

  • Leverage experience of Cloud Native technologies to expand our delivery strategy on premises and in public clouds
  • Take an Orchestration First approach to streamline or eliminate the need for legacy business processes
  • Develop infrastructure as code on Amazon Web Server (AWS) / Google Cloud Platform (GCP) leveraging experience with best practices and implementations for non-production and production environments
  • Support implementation of Cloud Native Storage, Backup and Operating Systems in public cloud and on-premises
  • Support the building of Continuous Delivery pipelines, code analysis, tests and review capabilities, and release management procedures
  • Actively contribute to ongoing improvement of our knowledge base with insights from orchestration, operations support and development support
  • Reduce and eliminate process complexity and operational debt for natively orchestrated workflow across all silos along delivery chain

Operations:

  • Ensure the availability, performance, reliability, and reporting of global cloud data centers and enterprise networks, while enabling operations teams to do the same
  • Create tools to auto-generate dashboards from policy code for displaying build and test results
  • Assist with incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution
  • Provide support and troubleshooting of prior-developed technology solutions
  • Perform software upgrades and installations as required in support of Cloud Native strategy via “orchestration first” methodologies
  • Assist with the addition of new customers and users into Cloud Native Delivery Solution by working alongside development teams and hosting “skill up” sessions

Required Technical Expertise:

  • Linux, Docker, Terraform and Kubernetes
  • Experienced with at least one third generation automation and configuration management solution such as Chef, Ansible, etc..
  • Configuration Management tools such as Github, Gitlab, SVN
  • Experienced with Continuous Integration tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins or Travis CI
  • Experienced with artifact repository management tools such as Artifactory, Nexus
  • Experienced with Agile software development practices, use of JIRA is a plus
  • Experienced in virtualized environment: design, set-up, maintenance and ongoing development (e.g., VMware, Nutanix, KVM)
  • Advanced scripting skills using any of the following Python/Ruby/Bash/JSON

Education & Experience:

  • BS (MS Preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
  • 3+ years of experience as an established member of DevOps or Build & Release teams, with proven track record of successfully delivering services
  • Expert understanding of SDLC in both waterfall and agile methodologies
  • 10+ years of experience in Linux/Unix environments

 Desired Strengths

  • 2+ years of—(preferred)
    • GCE Solutions architect
    • AWS Solutions architect associate certification
    • AWS SysOps associate certification
    • AWS DevOps associate certification
    • AWS Solutions architect professional certification
    • Familiarity with product development (eg: C++, C#, Java, Javascript, XML & Web Services)
    • Familiarity with Kafka, Message Bus, Queuing technologies a plus
  • Experienced in Services Oriented Architectures and Service Mesh (eg: Istio, linkerd, traefic, nginx, consul, etc…)
