As the Engineering Manager, you will oversee the devops and platform engineering organization and will lead the modernization of those areas with the goal of fully shifting to a cloud-centric organization with SecDevOps and automated delivery via CI, CD, and automated preventive controls.
What You’ll Get to do:
Manage technical aspects of product delivery, including collaborating with Product, generating and reporting team performance metrics, and building autonomous teams that deliver consistently with high quality
Meet regularly with direct reports to provide feedback, coaching, and career development, deliver performance reviews, recommend direct reports for promotion and other advancement opportunities
Define and execute technical objectives, in partnership with the Head of Cloud Platforms
Contribute technically through pull requests and code reviews
Participate in team meetings, architecture reviews, hiring activities, and agile processes
Scope: Directly manages 3-5 software engineers, including those at a grade higher than their own. Reports to Head of Cloud Platforms at Panasonic Cirrus
Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Degree required or preferred
2+ years of experience in an Engineering Management role with direct reports
4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in an individual contributor role
4+ years of experience delivering complex Cloud-based software applications in a Production environment
No specific education or degree is required or preferred
Competencies: Key desired behaviors; e.g., problem solving, innovation, collaboration, etc.
Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, JavaScript, or go
Experience collaborating with non-Engineering disciplines including Product Management and Design
Capable of making decisions based on data and analysis
Understanding and practical application of the trade-offs between business and technical decisions
Proactive team player with a bias for action and a high bar for quality
Communications: Key communications contacts, internal and external, and level of persuasion required
Effective communicating asynchronously with a distributed team, both written and oral
Capable of explaining ideas clearly and concisely
