Plant Nurse

Job Description

The Plant Nurse will report to the Employee Health and Safety Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide medical evaluation and care to employees looking for medical assistance for work related injuries and illnesses, and refers employees for additional medical care if deemed necessary
  • Document and maintain all medical patient records and other records and postings associated with workplace injuries or illnesses, including the OSHA 300 and related documents in an orderly manner following convention and good practice
  • Provide safety data including days since last lost workday case, day since last recordable case, TRIR, DART, and running list of annual recordable injuries
  • Assist the Sr. EHS Manager in assessing job responsibilities in the plant
  • Work with the Sr. EHS Manager and Workers Compensation manager regarding employee injuries and illnesses
  • Conduct daily floor walks and record any potential hazards and health effects that may result from the current work environment, including safety and health exposures (including ergonomics, physical, and chemical).
  • Participate in, and takes meeting minutes of the Union/Management Safety committee meetings
  • Evaluate medical limitations and return to work orders, and ensure your assigned responsibilities do not exceed those medical limitations
  • Consult with the Sr. EHS manager, the Plant Human Resources Manager, the Corporate Risk Manager, plant line supervisors and other managers to maintain a safe work environment
  • Be the Assistant Chief (Senior EHS manager is Chief) of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), and develop and coordinates training, emergency response procedures and protocols of Emergency Response Team members
  • Proctors employee safety training sessions and tracks completed training
  • Coordinate and administer relevant health screenings
  • Maintain a documented Supply Inventory System of medical supplies and ensure first aid cabinets are stocked
  • Maintain clean medical office
  • Follow processes and arrange for biohazard disposal
  • Coordinate Safety glasses/shoes vendor
  • Assist the Senior EHS Manager with other tasks

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid Missouri RN license
  • 2+ years of experience in an occupational health environment
  • Will demonstrate the ability of maintaining privacy, work independently and make decisions following company policy and procedure.
  • Proficient in computer software including Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations and record keeping requirements, DOT regulations, Audiometric Testing, and Respirator Fit Testing, preferred
  • Experience in Occupational Medical Support in a manufacturing facility, preferred
