Marketing Research Analyst

Accountable for the continued maintenance and support of already established intelligence activities both internal and external to the organization. Provide Hussmann with the information needed to assist with decision making.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Executive Support
    • Educate Hussmann and Panasonic on the trends of the Commercial Refrigeration market
    • Analyze multiple sources and develop executive presentations for meetings such as monthly board review
    • Conduct ad-hoc analyses as needed; ensure responses are well organized, error-free and summarize key points
    • Drive new insights to assist in developing competitive advantage in the marketplace
  • Industry Analytics: Retail Landscape, Construction Activity, Competitive Intelligence
    • Support Hussmann Factory data, units shipped, internally as well as externally with monthly submission to AHRI, handle requests
    • Support Nielsen TDLinx data, monitor Greenfield activity, develop methodologies for monitoring eCommerce and Fulfillment Centers, handle requests
    • Support the micro-level construction activity analytics platform based on Dodge Data & Analytics using both the monthly construction starts data as well as the online tool, handle requests
    • Support the complimentary macro-level construction activity analytics platform based on Federal data sources
    • Work with a multidisciplinary Hussmann team to calculate market size and share as well as collect competitive intelligence
  • Market Research:
    • Mine secondary research, analyze, and communicate key retailer and shopper trends
    • Manage third party projects including defining requirements, evaluating vendors, tracking and reporting progress, reviewing the ongoing work product, and assessing and delivering results
    • Independently manage, design, and lead retailer and shopper research projects:
      • Design and execute customer ODI / Blueprinting studies to understand needs and opportunities to support innovation process
      • Design and execute net-promoter research projects
      • Develop internal surveys to support functional leaders
  • Culture Building
    • Pro-actively communicate intelligence insights to a broader audience within Hussmann
    • Develop lunch and learns and webinars on intelligence findings and other topics useful to Hussmann employees
    • Begin outlining a plan to get more direct exposure to customers and sales teams
    • Develop materials that help the sales organization capture information to generate leads and improve sales
  • Personal Development
    • Begin plan to “learn the business”
    • Assess previous work experience for useful best practices new to Hussmann
    • Ask questions about everything

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BS or equivalent experience required; MS preferred
  • 2 years experience in research and data mining (or statistical software e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, Python, SQL, etc), including proven ability to convert raw data into meaningful analyses and communicate at an appropriate level to senior leaders.
  • Experience in questionnaire design and review and presenting complex problems simply to personnel from all organizational and subject knowledge backgrounds required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with research methods very helpful
  • Experience with Qualtrics very helpful
  • Possess a combination of characteristics, including analytical inquisitiveness, strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, the ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization and strong detail- and results-orientation
  • Ability to concurrently manage multiple projects including tracking activities, internal and external resources and budget
  • Strong motivational, organizational, written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Team player with the ability to build good rapport with both internal and external clients
