About you:

  • Previous experience managing a department, employees, processes and change.
  • Proven ability to improve process. Drive 5S practices (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), ensuring a safe, clean, tidy and efficient workplace.
  • Previous experience managing staff to implement department objectives - Lead, motivate, and set targets for all Repair Shop staff as required. 
  • Experience setting and enforce metrics to ensure proper performance of the repair shop operations. 
  • Maximize productivity levels through continual improvement of processes and lean principles. 
  • Continuously improve Repair Shop Quality Inspection Standards. Ensure compliance with Safety Management Systems.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Compliance

  • Ensure all Repair Shop activities are conducted in accordance with multiple National aviation agency regulations.
  • Participate in customer and regulatory audits as required. 
  • Ensure that Repair Shop staff are upholding all current company policies, and are compliant to aviation agencies regulations. 
  • Continuously improve Repair Shop Quality Inspection Standards. Ensure compliance with Safety Management Systems.

Supervisory

  • Hire, train, supervise, and appraise direct reports. 
  • Manage staff to implement department objectives - Lead, motivate, and set targets for all Repair Shop staff as required. 
  • Enforce metrics to ensure proper performance of the repair shop operations. 
  • Ensures Repair Shop staff is trained and competent in all relevant technical procedures, and regulatory requirements as needed for optimum job performance.

Processes Development and Maintenance

  • Set and monitor standards of performance.
  • Maximize productivity levels through continual improvement of processes and lean principles.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Drive 5S practices (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), ensuring a safe, clean, tidy and efficient workplace.
  • Manage inventories to mitigate AWP backlog.
  • Develop processes to mitigate effects of obsolescence.

External and Internal Relations

  • Manage the resolution of technical, schedule, and customer issues by fostering close relationships and open communication with other departments such as Quality, Engineering, Test, Production, and Order Administration.
  • Support regional marketing and sales initiatives.
  • Monitor vendor performance in supplying external services.

Financial

  • Provide inputs to the annual budget.
  • Ensure that Repair Shop operates within the approved business plan.
  • Manages the Repair Station P&L and submits periodic forecasts. 
  • Ensure inventory value is maintained at reported values as confirmed by cycle counts.
  • Develop requirements for capital equipment acquisitions as needed to meet department objectives.
  • Manage fixed expenses as a steward of the companies’ assets, streamlining processes to reduce cost through efficiency gains and process improvement.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient with mainstream PC desktop applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VISIO, Project).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An ability to negotiate and resolve customer issues that will improve customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process improvements
  • Lead a team of 100 or more staff with diverse backgrounds, and multiple business disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and motivate employees, as well as interview, hire, plan, assign, direct and appraise employees.
  • Must have demonstrable team building and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize department objectives.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Solid understanding of multiple Regulatory Agency regulations (Part 145, ISO 14001, SMS, AS9001).
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills.
  • Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures.
  • Demonstrates skills in managing resources to meet company objectives
  • Ability to travel and attend Customer meetings.
