Major Responsibilities:

Management of PDE

  • Set PDE sustaining/project workloads and priorities
  • Manage daily activities of the PDE team assignments
  • Meet with employees to review performance against objectives and conduct performance reviews
  • Responsible for development of, and adherence to, department budget and strategy

Function Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and budgetary advice and implementation to Manufacturing for CAPEX equipment
  • Support software, troubleshooting, maintenance and calibration of technical manufacturing equipment
  • Troubleshoot and provide direction on all technical aspects of production
  • Participate in the design, review, development and sustaining of existing and new products of IFEC as well as system requirements
  • Ensure there is a manufacturability improvement goal and feedback into engineering
  • Manage the development and implementation of test methodologies, plans and procedures
  • Manage design transition of new product to production and resolution of production issues
  • Ensure compliance with product definitions including environmental requirements
  • Work with manufacturing leadership and engineering to develop ME and production training
  • Work with QA and Manufacturing to analyze and provide RCCAs for manufacturing quality issues
  • Oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency while ensuring project goals and timelines are met or exceeded
  • Responsible for the planning and implementation of the processes and controls of all aspects of Structures and Antenna manufacturing, including BoMs, Routers and testing
  • Continually analyze and improve information and manufacturing flows to eliminate waste, prioritize and delegate Lean Process improvement projects to direct reports to ensure process optimization, robustness, quality and repeatability
  • Be the conduit between engineering and the rest of the supply chain for cohesive teamwork and efficient operations
  • Responsible for the development of tools, jigs, and fixtures to aid manufacturing
  • Develop improvement opportunities to standardize work, reduce rework, improve cycle time, and increase throughput
  • Lead cross functional teams to support departmental objectives
  • Support next level management with the development of “continuous improvement” strategies and prioritization
  • Assist with sourcing and managing outsourced products as required
  • Responsible for annual internal Manufacturing Assessments
Requirements:
  • BSc or BEng Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or related degree (or extensive directly applicable experience equivalent)
  • At least 7 years’ experience in the ME field supporting electro-mechanical assembly or a closely related area
  • Minimum 2 years Manufacturing Engineering Management experience leading technical workforce, with proven improvement track record
  • Cellular manufacturing (high mix/low volume) optimization experience is highly desired
  • Project Management experience is preferred
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing engineering fundamentals and ability to apply this knowledge to manufacturing and product design as well as comprehension and experience in the key elements that control production such as Manufacturing, Process Development, Design Engineering relating to how and why materials are used and assembled, DQV, and Value Engineering
  • Thorough understanding of lean/six sigma/6S/visual factory/VSM/ principles and cellular manufacturing
  • Experienced in documenting and writing business processes
  • Must have in depth knowledge and experience of writing PFMEAs
  • Demonstrate the ability to be results orientated to ensure high-level performance
  • Individual must be comfortable in dealing with changing priorities and able to appropriately realign personal and team task/objections to meet the business needs in a timely manner
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to influence others, mentor, negotiate effectively and work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Must be outgoing, hands on and self-motivated. Well organized, detailed oriented, with a strong sense of urgency and ownership
  • A creative problem solver, able to resolve conflicts and filter conflicting agendas to determine path forward
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project, and other pertinent software
  • Familiar with application of customer specifications in relation to manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Experience in the practical application of 5S, Six Sigma SPC Techniques and/or Lean Tools and Techniques is highly desired
  • Requires a hands-on Supervisor who will be a strong participant in cross functional teams to create processes related to new and existing product lines
  • Ideal candidate is well organized, and detail oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Experience with Oracle a plus
  • May require occasional travel (up to 15%) to assess and share best practices or field issues
