Repair Technician 1- Laptops:

Services and repairs a range of products sold/distributed under the Toughbook Department.  Provides service and support to internal customers handling repairs of sales samples for resale or demonstration purposes and external customers direct to industrial end-users. 

Please note this is a full-time permanent opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  1. Repairs products from assigned product lines within quality standards and standardized timeframes to minimize repeat repair.  Provides repair update to management on daily assignments.  Troubleshoots and identifies the warranty and non-warranty components of the repair. Provides customers with written estimates to ease communication related to non-warranty repair. Successfully completes required training seminars as instructed by Management team.
  2. Completes export documentation for shipments to Japan/ US repair center, for escalated issue to factory.  Prepares packages for shipping.  Picks up, transfers parts or provides additional support within the PCI parts logistics department as required.
  3. Collect information on frequently repaired units and notify management regarding frequently occurring problems. Maintain well organized and clean bench repair area that meets or exceeds safety standards. 
  4. Ensures the technical workspace adheres to WHMIS standards.  Ensures proper maintenance of specialized tools, tests equipment and test fixtures.  Ensures any maintenance of equipment is properly documented.  Ensures that any defective or worn equipment is reported to management promptly.
  5. Supports Technical Support teams on technical service issues, acts as resource to support group in reference to customer inquiries. Participates in team resolution of issues.

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  1. 2-years of community college for Electronic Technician or 3-years of community college for Electronic Technologist or equivalent.
  2. A + certification is required.
  3. 2 years related work experience required.
  4. Knowledge of micro-processor hardware / software theory required.
  5. Must have good knowledge of   Windows 10, Android platform and MS Office suite.
  6. Ability to safely and accurately use tools and instruments supplied such as volt meters, oscilloscope and a variety of diagnostic software associated with testing products and soldering tools. 
  7. Ability to diagnose and repair products to modular level.  Some board level repair may be required.
  8. Good communication skills required when discussing repair solutions with end users - must be able to articulate cause of problem, remedy and cost in easy-to-understand terms.
  9. Must have good team approach, work closely with other to achieve department goals.
  10. Must have excellent time management skills to work on multiple work order, track pending estimate, follow up with customers. 
  11. Must provide technical and non-technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
