About The Role:

The Creative team at Yohana combines exceptional creativity with data-driven insights to create impactful brand experiences and programs that resonate with current and prospective clients. And we have fun doing it!

We’re growing the team and are looking for a key leadership hire—the Head of Content Strategy Reporting to the Head of Creative, this role will lead a team of copywriters who possess an appreciation of client-focused, brand-right copy and a passionate pursuit of their craft. As a senior member of the team, your primary responsibilities will include owning, evolving and elevating the Yohana voice and tone and client-facing messaging strategy; conceptualizing and executing seasonal campaigns and ongoing evergreen creative; and providing leadership, mentoring and creative direction to a small but growing team.

This role will contribute at both a strategic and tactical level. We move fast, but we are also laying the foundation for the future. You will be called upon both to plan and guide, but also roll up your sleeves and lead by example. Your work will be highly cross-functional, affording you the opportunity to impact the entire customer lifecycle—from acquisition through to engagement—by partnering with Marketing, Product, Product Design, and Operations (i.e. client services). 

What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Act as a “Brand Steward” to help ensure Yohana’s verbal expression is unique, self-consistent, ownable, and iconic
  • Act as a “Brand Ambassador” to continually nurture relationships across the organization to foster world-class creative work in the service of a holistic client experience
  • Spearhead strategic efforts to evolve our brand in responsible yet novel ways, and own the creation and maintenance of the voice and tone guidelines
  • Manage and grow a burgeoning team of copywriters by nurturing their craftsmanship and career growth, and by conveying best practices, setting clear expectations, and aiding Project Managers in the allocation of resources
  • Direct and guide the execution of multiple, concurrent best-in-class creative responses to strategic briefs
  • Work with fellow Creative Directors on the visual side to concept and direct seasonal campaigns
  • Clearly and effectively express your POV and design rationale to your internal clients and your team to “sell” the work
  • Partner with cross-functional leads from Marketing, Product Design, and Product to suss out impactful opportunities, and action on them via our internal resources and outside agencies
  • Lead by example in all moments and foster team camaraderie at every opportunity
  • Liaise with and direct external creative agencies when necessary

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years directly leading a team in an Advertising, Digital or Design agency (or in-house equivalents)
  • 8+ years experience as professional creative
  • Significant experience working for an iconic brand or in a “brand-heavy” agency environment creating foundational messaging and content strategies, brought to life through compelling copy expressions; D2C experience is a plus
  • Experience creating and launching external marketing or communications campaigns
  • Experience bringing to life an editorial marketing calendar with robust and engaging content
  • Experience translating quantitative and qualitative data into communication strategies across multiple personas
  • Compelling storytellings skills with which you can create a vision, build excitement and consensus, and bring others along for the journey
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, dynamic and growth-oriented environment and operate fluidly between the strategic and tactical to find the best solution
  • Outstanding presentation skills with an ability to present a clear point of view, manage feedback and drive alignment and clarity for the team
  • Significant experience directing, managing and mentoring more junior creatives
  • Comfortable presenting to executive level leadership (nice to have)
  • Experience recruiting, leading, and developing teams
  • Topical expertise in wellness and/or parenting a plus
  • Bay Area location or ability to travel to Palo Alto, CA as needed
