The Facilities Electrical Engineer will integrate with a growing team of Facility Engineers and BIM Designers in a High-Performance Culture. They will lead our most critical projects in support of the ongoing site operations, improvements, and facility expansions at Panasonic. Additionally, they are responsible for the design, installation, operation, maintenance, modification, construction, modernization, and protection of physical facilities and equipment (building, power, water, sewer, chemical, piping, ventilation, lighting, space utilization, furniture, etc.) used to produce quality products at PENA.

Essential Duties:

Design, Install, Modify and Construction of Equipment and Systems

  • Develop conceptual designs for equipment and system expansion and/or upgrades
  • Manage and implement all phases of new construction and renovation/upgrade projects including planning, design, construction and commissioning
  • Prepare written project plans and presentations which may include budgets, staffing, schedules, coordination and other pertinent project information
  • Conduct technical project review and prepare written comments, analyses and recommendations
  • Modify existing equipment and systems for the purpose of improving efficiency, safety, reliability, capacity and cost effectiveness
  • Contract with and oversee the activities of various contractors and consultants for the fulfillment of facilities engineering responsibilities
  • Prepare designs, layouts, drawings, and bills of material for major maintenance, facility improvements, and other projects
  • Interpret regulatory codes for compliance (local, state, and federal)

Operation & Maintenance

  • Provide standard operating procedures and specifications governing the operation and maintenance of facility systems and equipment
  • Evaluate equipment and system performance and identify improvement plans
  • Troubleshoot problems with facility systems
  • Develop corrective action proposals and recommendations
  • Establish energy management and building control programs
  • Continually review and evaluate utilities, buildings, and structural requirements and preparation of projects as required
  • Assess the need for equipment replacement and expansion
  • Continually and actively investigate methods, operation changes, process materials, and machine components to minimize operating costs
  • Approve outside contractors to carry out specific maintenance and repair assignments (e.g., work request approvals)
  • Generate necessary documents for new equipment (e.g., PM check lists, manuals, spare part inventories, etc.)
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff and others as required
  • Audit existing systems for non-conformance

Production Support

  • Develop installation packages for the hook-up, demolition or relocation of production equipment
  • In conjunction with other engineering teams, design equipment floor layout for new equipment
  • Provide project management services for all construction work and approval after completion such as hook-up, demolition or relocation of production equipment
  • Perform preliminary engineering necessary to confirm plans and programs
  • Provide engineering consulting services, surveys, and recommendations to all departments
  • Conduct feasibility studies on system improvements and expansions
  • Support production equipment in extremely complex problem situations
  • Shutdown facilities equipment safely and properly during plant shutdown
  • Coordinate facility projects with other project groups within PENA
  • Maintain data on compliance of installations to environmental statutes and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, statutes, and codes; securing all required permits; and coordinating with appropriate local authorities

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employee’s, wearing PPE is a requirement for some roles at PENA and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications:  Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university or equivalent.

Essential Qualifications:

  • To be a good fit for this opportunity you will be “hands on” and have 5 plus years of experience in operation/engineering of mission critical facilities and infrastructure (electrical design, installation, commissioning, inspection, fire/life safety systems).
  • Ideal candidates will have supported and constructed large facilities, preferably in advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with energy conservation programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical systems and competence in areas of non-expertise.
  • The ability to:
    • Comprehend, analyze and interpret complex project documents, including AutoCAD, Visio and PDF documents.
    • Manage projects effectively. 
    • Develop installation standards and project tracking/management documents.
    • Respond effectively, verbally and in writing, to sensitive issues, complex inquiries or complaints.
  • A high level of commitment to customer service to both co-workers and clients.
  • Must be approachable and adaptable, this is a fast-moving environment where priorities are constantly changing. Must be comfortable communicating/troubleshooting with all levels of the organization.
  • Utilize strong computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint to put together proposals, project planning, status updates, and executive presentations.
  • Ability to speak Japanese a plus.
