Job Summary:

The Electrical Specialist plans and implements the design, manufacture, installation and/or maintenance of electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, wiring, and power systems ore devices, for the generation, transmission, and control of electric power.  In addition, the Specialist performs equipment failure analyses (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance). Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems. Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures. 


Essential Duties:

  • Analyze problems, plan, and execute countermeasures for achieving operation improvement of production equipment.
  • Implement or modify electrical equipment to correspond to a new product or improvement.
  • Identify problems from equipment or electrical drawings.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and plant facilities/equipment including electrical wiring installation, I/O, wiring checks, and confirming function/operation.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain controllers that drive electrical systems (servos, VFDs, temperature controllers).
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production electrical equipment during production.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test, and adjust product lines.
  • Perform regular overhaul of machines and equipment.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Work closely with engineers to execute on projects.
  • Provide support with ordering and fabricating new parts.
  • Train and work with new engineers.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications:  Requirements - Required and/or Preferred




  • Basic: Completion of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Associate’s Degree, completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.



Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of manufacturing experience focused on electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience performing wiring work and troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • Experience conducting maintenance on advanced production machinery.
  • Able to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • 2+ years working in a technical position at PENA.
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of NFPA 79 and NEC Standards.
  • Previous experience working in high voltage panels.
  • Knowledge of LOTO procedures.
  • Previous background with PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with machine shop is strongly desired.
  • Strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and industrial skills.
  • Understand electrical theory and application.
  • Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure.
