As a key member of the project design team, the Electrical Design Engineer III applies engineering best practices and subject matter expertise to design and document the complete electrical power and control requirements for our projects. The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for creating electrical, wiring schematics, sequence of operation, control algorithms, component layouts, and manufacturing bills of materials. Our Electrical Engineers actively work with customers, manufacturing, quality and service departments during manufacturing, systems verification, or field startup.
Responsibilities:
- Use technical understanding of circuit design and electrical and electronic component functionality.
- Select project electrical components based on the project specific design requirements and company standards.
- Maintain state of the art awareness and knowledge of latest technology in power systems, relay protections, VFDs, refrigeration electrical and electronic components, design tools, and methodologies.
- Implement knowledge and skills related with the electrical Power distribution and control.
- Could discuss advantages and disadvantages of Hussmann products in comparison to other manufacturers.
- Communicate with electrical assembly shop and wiring shop with drawings, written instructions, and verbal instructions. Work with manufacturing to improve project documentation.
- Specify bill of materials
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Ability to design in the latest version of AutoCAD.
- Have broad design knowledge of electrical and electronic components and controls used on HVAC-R systems, including but not limited to direct expansion technology, secondary technology, advanced system and compressor diagnostics technology, and variable speed drives.
- Knowledge of NEC codes and industry standard wiring methods.
- Have broad industry products and systems knowledge, preferably experience with other refrigeration systems manufacturers.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
- Proficient with electrical design & circuits
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Refrigeration systems knowledge and experience, including familiarity with Hussmann and Krack products
- Ability to design in the latest version of AutoCAD.
- Have strong knowledge and experience in sequence of operation, I/O layouts and design, programming logic and controls (micro-processor based as well as PLC).
- Project management experience.
