• Strategically work with senior plant leadership to establish and sustain a zero incident culture

• Provides expertise during concept and design phases of manufacturing processes to ensure that sound Health Safety & Environmental control methodologies are integrated into design

• Lead /participate in root cause safety investigations as necessary as well as any environmental incidents and ensure that all required reports are made in a timely and accurate manner

• Manages interactions with outside Safety & Environmental support / consulting groups and regulatory agency personnel

• Oversight of on-site nurse and oversight of responsibilities

• Responsible for policy oversight at Bridgeton facility.

• Provide strategic technical support to the plant Leadership Team and plant personnel in the day-to-day operations

• Accountable for supporting and completing departmental goals

• Conduct routine audits to identify any deficiencies and develop appropriate corrective actions to assure the protection of the environment and maintaining full compliance with applicable government regulations, permits, health safety & environmental policies and procedures

• Develop and provide safety & environmental presentations to Plant and Senior Leadership

• Effectively interfaces with personnel at all organizational levels, along with state and federal regulators/officials.

• Conducts safety & environmental assessments and recommends mitigation methods as warranted

• Establish and maintain EHS documentation and record keeping

• Utilize problem solving tools and behavior-based safety strategies, as well as other innovative strategies to guide injury prevention efforts and continuously improve the safety culture

• Ensure compliance with State, Federal and Corporate Health Safety & Environmental guidelines

• Directs the site environmental programs (Title V, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Spill Prevention, Control, Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), TRI, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Health & Safety Science or related field.  Masters preferred.

• 10 years experience working in industrial environment with responsibilities in a Health, Safety & Environmental function

• 3-5 years of management experience


Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to make sound recommendations, decisions, and project plans that secure the continuing operation of the business

• Excellent interpersonal skills (training/presentation, team collaboration and communication) with the ability to influence others

• Strong OSHA knowledge and understanding

• Knowledge of Environmental management systems such as ISO 14001

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a changing environment to meet customer and business needs

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels within the organization and regulatory agencies
