Lead the Panasonic Advanced Software Engineering team, to include people, innovative products and technologies and associated process and activities within our Software Engineering group spanning all customers and new / existing projects. Responsible for advanced software technology development initiatives inclusive of: new software platforms, software architecture design, demonstration / pursuit solutions and reusable components.  Role will deliver to key internal customers of Sales (for pursuits), Marketing (for trade events / properties) and Production Engineering (production components) and external customers for decoupled developments.





  • Responsible for the technical interface with technology partners/suppliers to develop strategic relationships, and/or leverage product technology roadmaps to improve the company’s software product portfolio to provide a sustainable advantage.
  • Fosters an environment of constant innovation, accelerating capability build up and execution in all product lines, special focus on infotainment and other adjacencies.
  • Ensures the correct resources are allocated and implement necessary alignment in the organization structure and capabilities.
  • Keeps close contact with strategic customers and partners, in order to understand technology trends and requirements, as well as establish partnerships for advanced projects with leading customers.
  • Provides leadership in developing advanced concepts, techniques, standards and setting the technical direction for the department’s design processes and procedures.
  • Develops engineering resource plans to meet the development requirements of all the programs in the engineering group assigned in the form of work breakdown structure resource planning and critical path timing planning tools.
  • Manages the software development dependencies between projects to meet the product specification requirements as defined in customer specifications, government regulations, & internal design standards documentation.
  • Responsible for succession planning and the identification and development of high-potential talent within business unit.
  • Responsible to assure all staff within the group, and across projects, are compliant and follow the process including documenting and archiving any required process evidential artifacts.
  • Responsible for SW input on company roadmaps and in proposing and establishing new skills to meet the capabilities needed for future success of the company.
  • Leads Advanced Engineering product feasibility, cost effectiveness, & customer demand for new and existing products/technologies.
  • Implements effective ways to monitor and evaluate customer concerns, issues, and satisfaction and seeks suggestions for improvement.
  • Sets priorities and makes decisions that consider customer impact; measures customer satisfaction and retention to ensure solutions, practices, and procedures are achieved.


  • Assumes Technology leadership and management responsibilities for the development and effective delivery of new technologies, processes and innovation efforts for the platform on a global basis.
  • Development and monitoring of project specific execution plans to reconcile Scope, Budget and Schedule constraints and ensures advanced engineering project success.
  • Develops and maintains a productive working climate, promoting teamwork and cross-functional efforts.
  • Provides leadership and directs staff to foster global technical cooperation and partnership with other divisions of Panasonic.
  • Contributes to and has responsibility for completion of significant special assignments with broad product, technology investment and integration, customer and strategic impact.
  • Ensures that those responsible for implementing a strategic initiative have role clarity and accountability for required actions and outputs as well as the authority to act in a way consistent with organizational values.
  • Lead organizational review/redesign activities at the team level that identify aspects of work flow, procedures, structures and systems and realign them to fit current business realities/goals better integrating people with core business processes, technology and systems.


  • Lead strategies to develop internal talent while balancing that effort with external hiring; targets challenging developmental assignments that build individual confidence and organizational capability.
  • Ensure that all individuals within the team are equipped with the knowledge and skills to support higher levels of performance and ongoing development of their skills. This includes the management of underperformers.
  • Promotes a culture that reflects company’s values, encourages outstanding performance and promotes positive work environment, as well as strengthening regional team spirit.
  • Attracts and retains premiere talent through recruiting, mentoring, training and other employee development activities.


  • Ensures effective control of engineering results to be certain that the achievement of engineering objectives is within designated budgets.
  • Responsible for budget management of the Advanced Engineering Software team.
  • Responsible for maintaining expenditures and budgets to the extent authorized and may have the responsibility of inventory, capital investments, or head count controls.



  • Four-year college degree in Software, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related degree required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years previous work in a closely related engineering field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated leadership at a management level.
  • Five (5) years of experience working as an architect working on a complex (IVI) system with advanced technologies like speech, networking, image processing, AI/ML, etc. Preference given to candidates with direct experience on hypervisor based systems, Android, cluster, and Functional Safety
  • Must possess leadership ability in developing advanced concepts, techniques and standards, including the ability to set the technical direction for the department’s design processes and procedures.
  • Must be able to conceptualize complex technical applications and develop feasible realizations based on a broad understanding of available solutions and partnerships.
  • Previous work experience in a cross-cultural, international environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Windows-based databases as appropriate to the position and assignment.
