The Cost Accountant II position is responsible for supporting plant operations through financial support, reporting and analysis, as well as assisting with inventory control objectives. As a member of the Cost Accounting Team, this position is responsible for routine reporting and participates in month-end closing, forecasting and other Cost Accounting functions.
Role and Responsibilities
Create and/or maintain controls that assist in accurately reflecting the perpetual inventory position of the plant.
Provide general accounting support during monthly closing and reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts.
Assist with formulating standard labor and overhead costs.
Reconcile variances to standard including material usage, purchase price and labor.
Validate and track productivity projects related to the facility.
Assist in fixed asset management and development of performance review of capital projects.
Act as plant liaison with the Corporate Compliance department as it relates to internal/external audit and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
Collaborate with Plant Management in driving increased forecast accuracy for plant operations, operating costs, and capital expenditures.
Evaluate/Identify cost drivers of plant operations and prepare key financial metrics for analysis.
Proactively identify and capture improvements in financial, management and manufacturing operations.
Cross-train within the Cost Accounting Team.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
- 2-3 years’ experience in cost accounting and general ledger; experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Highly skilled in Excel and other Microsoft Office products
- Experience in ERP systems; Oracle is preferred
