Job Summary:

The Controller’s responsibilities are to oversee our accounting and internal audit groups, including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cost Accounting, and Internal Audit. The Controller will be responsible for monitoring general accounting practices, developing internal accounting controls, tracking high volume operations and assets, overseeing our internal audit function, and leading a strong accounting team. The successful candidate for this position will report directly to our Director of Finance and play an instrumental role in the financial future of the company.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Manage daily accounting operations, ensuring there is a redundant process backup in place for every critical operation.
  • Create new internal accounting policies and maintain existing policies.
  • Monitor emerging technology determining ways to automate the accounting process without sacrificing accuracy and accountability.
  • Develop monthly and quarterly accounting reports for the management and executive teams.
  • Implement and monitor the month, quarter, and year-end closeout accounting schedules including preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Responsible for supporting internal audits whether directed by PC, PNA, U.S. Co, or driven internally by PENA.
  • Provide direction, support, and input on all accounting issues and matters.
  • General Ledger – provide support on general ledger and financial reporting during month end and quarterly close, reviewing company and divisional financial reporting, and tax reporting.
  • Cost Accounting – provide support on product costing, product manufacturing analysis, and absorption related analysis and reporting.
  • Fixed Assets – support tracking of budget and actual capital expenditure spending, tracking of physical assets, understanding of depreciable lives, and lease accounting.
  • Accounts Receivable – support team with invoicing, closely monitoring cash receipts, reporting of sales, and management of collections.
  • Accounts Payable – support team with billings, monitoring of aging, and vendor relations.
  • Review of monthly account reconciliations.
  • Management reporting of monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).
  • Develop and effectively monitor and apply all internal control procedures within accounting and related areas, ensuring compliance with corporate policies.
  • Experience with SOX, internal and external audit functions.
  • Responsible for banking and foreign exchange transactions.
  • Responsible for overseeing internal controls.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

Qualifications:  Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:

  • Basic/Required:  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics 
  • Preferred: N/A

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of direct experience leading an accounting team within a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced literacy with Microsoft Office, especially Excel spreadsheets and database functions
  • Experience with international accounting (IFRS) a must
  • Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, or another fully integrated ERP system
  • Working knowledge of accrual-based accounting within a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding and interpreting complex accounting matters, including but not limited to lease accounting and IFRS
  • Strong customer service skills including excellent verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Interprets procedures and governmental regulations
  • Capable of handling confidential information in a responsible manner
  • Responds to inquiries from operations managers, production control, finance in a timely manner
  • Flexibility and multi-tasking capabilities
  • Highly organized and able to follow a systematic method of performing a task
  • Ability to collaborate and form teams
  • Ability to work with domestic and international teams
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
