The position:
Join a dynamic engineering team developing the next generation of In-Flight Entertainment and Communication (IFEC) systems. You will be responsible for helping to develop new IFEC products. As part of this job, you will be responsible for the requirement review and testing of new products, as well as proving the product is safe.”
Experienced in certification and qualification of In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems by managing certification related issues with various other departments. Experienced in preparing/providing technical documentation and coordinating/conducting various types of testing.
Technical
- Must be able to read electrical and harness schematic. Write test procedures for continuity check, pinout verification, and voltage/power
- Perform electrical engineering trouble shooting
- Fully experienced creating procedures to test electrical assemblies including, Switches, lights, relays and circuit breakers, fan assemblies, antennas, fiber optics, coax, Quadrax cables, using various ARINC connections systems, and other electromechanical, optical transmission & RF devices.
- Fully experienced creating test procedures which include the following: High Voltage dielectric, Insulation Resistance, Static grounding and Bonding of mechanical assemblies, Grounding & Bonding of various IFE systems, System & component level continuity testing, and Multiphase fan operated systems in large & aircraft cooling systems
- Fully experienced creating Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Electrical Loads Analysis (ELA) & Ground and Bonding Calculations (GBC).
- Interface, discuss and/or debate with FAA, EASA, and OEMs to obtain approval on Flammability Test Plans/Procedure, Structural Test Plan/Procedure, Qualification Plan, and establishing Qualification Basis
- Perform limited electrical engineering trouble shooting
- Familiar with Aerospace wiring & bonding specification such as Boeing D6-54446 & Airbus ADB0100.1.8 specs
- Ability to read wiring diagrams & schematics and mechanical drawings
- Familiar with various IFE systems
- Ability to operate in a fast paced Design & Build environment
- Ability to participate in PDR/CDR and other Customer related venues
- Ability to work with all levels of the Engineering /Production environment
- Generate Flammability Test Plans, Structural Test Plan, Qualification Plan, and establishing Qualification Basis for various OEMs (Airframe manufacture) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as well as European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
- Interface, discuss and/or debate with FAA, EASA, and OEMs to obtain approval on Flammability Test Plans/Procedure, Structural Test Plan/Procedure, Qualification Plan, and establishing Qualification Basis.
- Work with various engineering groups – Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electro-Magnetic Interference to help evaluate selection of new materials for commodities that are compliant with FAA, EASA, and OEM flammability, smoke and toxicity requirement, structural substantiation, and qualification plan.
- Ensure all related documentation [drawings, test plans, Enterprise Change Requests (ECRs), Enterprise Change Order (ECOs), and Notice of Change (NOCs)] are technically accurate and consistent before release.
- Facilitate and/or perform pre-qualification (engineering tests) to identify failures during product development and provide technical solutions to problems.
- Responsible for the successful qualification tests in a timely manner.
- Ensure technical correctness, accuracy, documentation and release qualification reports as well as substantiation document.
- Coordinate the selection and ordering of parts, materials and vendor relations with Procurement, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Obsolescence, Product Planning and Material Planning departments.
- Provide recommendations on technical approach & qualification plan.
- Ability to multi-task on between developing projects and sustaining projects.
The salary range of $86,000-$115,500 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
What we're looking for:- BS in Electrical Engineering or System Engineering is required. Masters preferred.
- 5+ years of work experience
- At least 4 years in In-Flight Entertainment related field.
Knowledge/Skill Requirement:
- Must understand DO-160 and FAR 25, specifically for compliance to 14 CFR 25.1309, 25.1353, 25.853, 25.855 & 25.859.
- Ability to analyze problems using conventional (analysis) and computerized techniques.
- Ability in developing and implementing test methods and procedures.
- Ability to integrate information from more than one discipline (ME, EE, EMI, Product Planning & Manufacturing Engineering) to achieve results or successfully complete difficult and challenging assignments within a specialized field.
- Work on problems of diverse to complex scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of variable factors.
- Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Ability to effectively interact with senior internal and external personnel.
