The Position:
The position is for a back-end software developer who will support development of our Virtual Rack product; Virtual Rack is a new product that virtualizes our existing IFES (In-Flight Entertainment System) to enable developers to test and integrate new IFES features without the need for a physical IFES. This includes virtualization of the Virtual Smart Monitor, overall performance improvements for the existing Virtual Rack infrastructure, Flight simulator integration, adding support for media metadata, and supporting new AWS-based Mikrotik infrastructure.
As a Backend Software Developer on the Automation DevOps and Tools Team, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the backend systems that power our automation infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, DevOps specialists, and QA engineers, to ensure seamless integration and deployment of our products.
- Collaborate with the Automation, DevOps and Tools team to design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems using Golang and Python.
- Develop APIs and microservices to support various automation workflows and integrations.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance code quality and maintainability.
- Integrate third-party tools and services into our automation infrastructure, ensuring compatibility and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the backend systems, collaborating with the team to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in backend development and automation tools, bringing new ideas and technologies to the team.
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
The salary wage range of $90,000 – $151,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) with at least 6 years’ experience.
- Proven experience as a Backend Developer, working on complex projects with Golang and Python.
- Solid understanding of backend development principles, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Proficient in working with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Experience with automation and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and Agile development methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex systems.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
- Knowledge of other programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, Node.js) is a plus.
