The Inventory Control Assistant performs all job duties and responsibilities involved with data collection, entry of daily and monthly production, physical inventory count, inventory cycle counts and inventory reconciliation, develops spreadsheets as necessary.  This individual should be proficient in all aspects of administrative skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Maintains active communication with management and other employees about all job-related concerns, and informs the appropriate positions when problems occur.

  • Tracks battery lots in our computer system through the process.
  • Enters production data in our computer system for each process in a timely manner.
  • Enters internal and external departmental material transfers in our computer system.
  • Maintains production records in filing or electronic system.
  • Follows the necessary procedures to reconcile inventory.
  • Informs production supervisors of inventory discrepancies.
  • Conducts cycle counts between monthly physical inventory days.
  • Helps coordinate monthly and annual physical inventory.
  • Develops computer spreadsheets using appropriate formulas to calculate data.
  • Communicates well with all members of management.
  • Able to make bill of material changes and understand the reasoning behind the change.


  • Cleans and organizes the work area and equipment.
  • Relieves production employees when necessary.
  • Rework product when necessary.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned or needed.




Four-year degree in a business-related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience with at least one-year experience with Microsoft Office and computer business software.


Basic English skills.  Good communication skills.


Above average mathematical skills.


Ability to read, understand and follow instructions.  Able to make fairly complex decisions independently.


  • Good understanding of inventory.
    • Able to calculate inventory quantities based on mathematical calculations.
    • Able to discern logical patterns for inventory discrepancies 
  • Good understanding of spreadsheets.
    • Able to use formulas to calculate quantities and values.
    • Able to use basic math and statistical functions such as sum, average, min, max.
    • Able to insert and modify pictures.
  • Good understanding of word processor.
    • Able to use proper grammar.
    • Able to insert and modify pictures.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work effectively with different types of people and personalities.
  • Basic knowledge of EMS work instructions and Hazardous Waste
  • Management procedures relevant to positions for which assigned.
  • Training may include, but not limited to, on-the-job training, department reviews and internal/external training.
  • Good understanding of environmental regulations.


The physical demands include standing some days sitting some days, and exerting 10-40 pounds of force frequently in order to move materials and load machines.


The Inventory Control Assistant spends the workday in a climate controlled area.  The jobholder works on and around highly automated, high-speed machinery; and also, may work around certain hazardous chemicals.  Specified safety equipment and procedures must be used at all times.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
