Contribution to Society

Our team members are committed to working together inside and outside of the Gigafactory by building relationships with each other, and with our local northern Nevada community.

For the last century, Panasonic divisions across the globe have taken great pride in our founder's 7 Basic Business Principles, with "Contribution to Society" being the first on that list.

We strive to have a presence in our community not just as a business, but as a community partner that is actively involved and engaged with our northern Nevada community today, and for years to come.

Community Partnerships and Engagement

Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce

PENA has been a proud Reno + Sparks Chamber of Commerce member since 2017. In May 2018, our local Reno recruitment office became official with a fantastic ribbon cutting ceremony arranged and promoted by executive team members of The Chamber. The organization has been a tremendous resource to our community as well as those looking to relocate to our area with obtaining information about our Gigafactory operation, and employment opportunities.

Education Alliance of Washoe County School District

The Education Alliance is a community partnership with programs that support academic achievement and workforce development for pre-school to college students (P-16). PENA has sponsored the "Run for Education" held each fall since 2017, which helps fund physical education programs in our schools. PENA team members volunteer regularly to be present at career fairs, speaking in classrooms, and participating in events to support our local teachers as well.

Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) is dedicated to creating a cleaner, more beautiful region through education and active community involvement. As PENA's mission and vision surround creating a clean energy society, partnering with KTMB aligns with what we hope to achieve on both local and global levels.

Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN)

EDAWN is committed to recruiting and expanding quality companies that have a positive economic impact on the Greater Reno-Sparks-Tahoe region. The organization has been beyond helpful with data for our recruiting efforts and education programs, with a focus on workforce development. PENA was awarded the "Partner with Education" award by EDAWN in 2018.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

Make-A-Wish®Northeastern & Central California & Northern Nevada was founded in 1983 and has granted more than 7,350 wishes to children in our community. PENA has been a sponsor of the "Waffles and Wishes" event since 2018, contributing to more children's wishes granted in our community. Additionally, PENA team members organized a "Wish Enhancement" ice skating event that winter for the daughter of one of PENA's employees who had a wish granted earlier that year.
