I felt like I could grow as an individual, a thinker and a contributor. The employment experience has been incredible. Being able to wake up each morning and being able to do what I love, while maintaining great relationships with my team is rare to find. Challenged may arise, but it keeps me motivated, so I would not trade the experience. I’m excited to see what the future holds for me at Panasonic.What’s your favorite Panasonic moment? Speaking to my manager about the opportunity to transition from an intern to a full-time employee of the team. This was the highlight of my time at Panasonic. I worked diligently to get to this point, and with hard work, a strong work ethic and determination it shows that it paid off. This was an influential and significant experience to my career journey. I formed strong work relationships with my colleagues and cross functional teams. Being on the council for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion group has also provided an additional path for me that challenges me to keep raising the bar and continue setting high standards in the workplace.

Coming from appliances, the technology was very simple so there was not a lot to dive into. Here, there are so many technologies anywhere from RF to Power Supplies to Digital – it has something for everyone.What do you think it takes to be successful at Panasonic? I think there’s a lot of opportunities to be very successful here. You need to be outspoken and willing to learn. Take leadership roles everywhere you are, don’t just wait for someone to tell you what to do.What makes Panasonic a great place to work? I think it’s a great place to work because they really care about their employees. They really show that and there are no gimmicks. There’s a lot of transparency with HR and the people who work here. Sparks, Nevada What led you to your current role at Panasonic? I have always had a passion for people and our planet. When the opportunity to serve the business in Safety and Sustainability was offered, I knew that it would be a great fit for me. I am grateful to say the company has allowed me many challenges throughout my career from various roles in manufacturing, engineering, product development and now safety and sustainability.What is a typical day like for you at Panasonic? I am fortunate in my role that I get to interact with all parts and people in the Hussmann business as well as Panasonic. My best days are when I am working with my team to come up with new and innovative ways to make our products, processes, and services safer and more protective of our environment. I enjoy traveling to the various Panasonic factories to better understand how we can add value to our customers and our business while making the world safer and more sustainable. Describe Panasonic in one word. INSPIRATIONAL! What’s your favorite Panasonic moment? In the beginning, I had experience only with the Panasonic products I grew up; Radios, VCRs, TVs and DVD players. After research, not only did I learn about the incredibly innovative products and development happening in energy generation and storage, communications, farming, connectivity, etc., but also discovered the Management Philosophy of Panasonic founder Konosuke Matsushita issued in 1978. His philosophy is “the fundamental social responsibility of a corporation, in any era, should be to improve society through business activities.” I knew when I read this that I was now part of a company whose true mission was aligned with the well-being of the world – how cool is that? Describe the relationship you've built with your co-workers. My co-workers are my second family. Most of us spend more time with our co-workers than our families so it is important for me that we have mutual trust and respect for one another. My co-workers are what make Panasonic a great company and why I am proud of this company.

We have, however, created an atmosphere where you can just walk in, apply, interview and have a job offer all in the day! We may also have a hiring event in the office or out of state or even giving an information brief at a Military facility. What led you to your current role at Panasonic? I worked for the Army National Guard as a civilian contractor, my role was to assist Military members in finding civilian jobs. I would send resumes to Panasonic. I was contacted by Panasonic and asked if I would be interested in a recruiting job. I took a leap of faith and said yes. It has been the best career decision I have ever made. What are some of the challenges you enjoy most? I enjoy the fast paced environment we work in. There is always a lot to do. I love that we have created processes where there were none before. Things can change in an afternoon - we may get new headcount numbers and without skipping a beat be prepared to fill those. The office motto is “Challenge Accepted”! Tyrell C. What is your favorite part about your job? My favorite part about my job is the ability to learn new programs and increase my competency. Management advocates for perpetual growth and the refining of our skills. What makes Panasonic a great place to work? Panasonic is a great place to work because of the employees who make up the company. A diverse group of people with various skills coming together for a common goal. Whether it's holiday parties, cultivating farms in Newark, or collaborating on the rollout of a new application, positive lasting memories are created every day. What is a typical day like for you at Panasonic? A typical day usually starts with responding to emails from the previous day and then reviewing data from our external applications. I usually have two to four meetings spread throughout the day with business partners and analysts. As an administrator for our applications I assist end users with low level issues. How would you best describe a Panasonic person? People at Panasonic understand the importance of the team. They take pride in their work knowing that their individual contributions are what separate success from failure. Panasonic employees know when to have fun and when to work hard to meet a deadline. They are intelligent, driven, and creative problem-solvers. What's one interesting fact about Panasonic that people might not know? Panasonic has created a smart town in Japan and is currently working with Denver, Colorado to create a more energy efficient smart town there. It is exciting to think of possibilities, the enhancements to the culture, and the new technologies yet to be created.
Kristin L. What advice would you give to someone applying to a job in your department? Be ready to face new challenges and for a job that requires you to be ready for change. What makes Panasonic a great place to work? The people. Hands down. I am lucky to work with so many amazing colleagues that truly want to build Panasonic into an even better company. What is a typical day like for you at Panasonic? The best thing about my job is that there is no typical day. It can be traveling, dealing with customers, developing staff, or the great unknown. It keeps my job interesting. Each day is different, bringing new challenges that require creative thinking to solve problems. What led you to your current role at Panasonic? I have always had a passion for photography. Running the sales team for imaging allows to stay close to photography. What's your favorite Panasonic moment? This year, I was able to go to Japan with several camera specialty store owners. We were greeted at the Panasonic Yamagata factory by the factory staff waving Panasonic flags. It was clear that they were so proud of the company they worked for, and this was very apparent to our guests.
Michael L. How would you best describe a Panasonic person? A Panasonic person is someone of high moral caliber, with a sharp mind who asks the question “How can I make this better?”. What led you to your current role at Panasonic? I came to Panasonic after working at a firm that specialized in Big Data for the oil and gas industry. I now work with a team at Panasonic that utilizes many of the same big data elements but applied to sports to enhance the fan experience at places where we have our video solutions.How do you describe your work to your friends and family? I like letting my family and friends know that in addition to our great consumer products we are also have completed projects for iconic venues such as Churchill Downs, SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta as well as being one of the leading innovators in Smart Cities. What's your favorite Panasonic moment? My favorite moment at Panasonic was being part of the Panasonic team that helped Bristol Motor Speedway host the Battle at Bristol, the largest football game ever played. My team created all the content and graphics that were played on the world's first outdoor center-hung LED video display during the game! Describe the relationships you've built with your co-workers. I have yet to meet a coworker that does not embody The Seven Principles. Many of my coworkers have become people who I am happy to call friends.

In short, ‘The 8th Habit’ says that the most successful people “find their voice, and then help other find theirs.” This is perfect for Panasonic today; we are finding a new voice as the company is changing and growing, and we all have the opportunity to help customers, other employees, and others find their voices. Take charge and find your voice!What is a typical day like for you at Panasonic?Fast paced, different every day, energizing. I have the best of two worlds… ½ of my time I am focused on the Hussmann business, and the other ½ on the broader PNA. Newark, NJ What is your favorite part about your job?Getting to know the width and depth of businesses both from global and regional perspectives as the Director of Corporate Planning. One day, we’re discussing Newark’s local community engagement, another day I’m on my way to Japan to discuss strategies for factory operation in Japan, truly helping peoples to pursue “A Better Life, A Better World”.What advice would you give to someone applying to a job in your department?Be open-minded and flexible. Try to understand technological/industry trends both from global and regional perspectives. It’s essential to have a “global” mind, understanding the global trends of the industry and internal capabilities of Panasonic’s global perspective, while also finding a way to fit operations into local market conditions.What’s your favorite Panasonic moment?Being a part of 100 years old company. Not many companies can survive in this hyper-competitive industry. I’m prideful to be a part of this long-lasting history and an active contributor in making further future progress. One day, I found a 30-year-old Panasonic pencil sharpener sitting at a local gymnastic club, still fully functional, allowing children and staff to write properly. The next day, traveling on an airplane, I found a Panasonic-made IFE (In-Flight Entertainment system). Every aspect of your life is somehow being impacted by Panasonic technology. It all started with the company’s great founder, Konosuke Matsushita; a visionary leader looking far beyond what ordinary people can see with a humble mind set.What are some of the challenges you enjoy most? Newark, NJ What is your favorite part about your job?Getting to know the width and depth of businesses both from global and regional perspectives as the Director of Corporate Planning. One day, we’re discussing Newark’s local community engagement, another day I’m on my way to Japan to discuss strategies for factory operation in Japan, truly helping peoples to pursue “A Better Life, A Better World”.What advice would you give to someone applying to a job in your department?Be open-minded and flexible. Try to understand technological/industry trends both from global and regional perspectives. It’s essential to have a “global” mind, understanding the global trends of the industry and internal capabilities of Panasonic’s global perspective, while also finding a way to fit operations into local market conditions.What’s your favorite Panasonic moment?Being a part of 100 years old company. Not many companies can survive in this hyper-competitive industry. I’m prideful to be a part of this long-lasting history and an active contributor in making further future progress. One day, I found a 30-year-old Panasonic pencil sharpener sitting at a local gymnastic club, still fully functional, allowing children and staff to write properly. The next day, traveling on an airplane, I found a Panasonic-made IFE (In-Flight Entertainment system). Every aspect of your life is somehow being impacted by Panasonic technology. It all started with the company’s great founder, Konosuke Matsushita; a visionary leader looking far beyond what ordinary people can see with a humble mind set.What are some of the challenges you enjoy most? - 17-year Panasonic veteran, versatile, global career background within company.
- Originally from Japan, studied in Boulder, Colorado.
- Started Panasonic career as a Product Manager in Japan, working with Olympic marketing teams (2006 Torino, 2008 Beijing, 2010 Vancouver).
- Began working in the US in 2012; From Marketing to Brand Management to leading a CES project as Project Leader.
- Moved to Corporate Planning in 2016, currently leading Planning and Business Development as a PNA Director. Assumed the project lead role for the newly established Smart Mobility Office.
