Why We Power On: Stories from the Heart of Panasonic Energy

Purpose fuels everything at Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America (PECNA). That commitment was on display during the grand opening of PECNA’s De Soto, Kansas EV battery factory, when employees came together to share what inspires them most through the Why Wall, a large banner filled with handwritten notes answering one simple but powerful question: “Why do you love working at Panasonic Energy?”

Each card pinned to the wall is an insight into what energizes the people behind PECNA. From the thrill of innovation to the strength of community, the Why Wall visualizes the values that power Panasonic Energy.

Let’s take a closer look at a few of the voices behind the wall.

Leandra Olivia, a Skilled Machine Technician at Panasonic Energy, shows her dedication by relocating from Nevada and supporting the launch of the new factory in Kansas. When asked about her “why,” Olivia simply said, “Panasonic’s Seven Principles.” For Olivia, these principles – Contribution to Society, Fairness and Honesty, Cooperation and Team Spirit, Untiring Effort for Improvement, Courtesy and Humility, Adaptability and Gratitude – are her guiding light at Panasonic Energy. “We are doing something that is not just beneficial to the people we produce our products for, but to the world in the way we are producing them,” she explains. By using recycled materials and reducing reliance on rare metals, Panasonic’s battery production supports a cleaner, more sustainable future helping to power the global shift to renewable energy while minimizing environmental impact. Olivia’s love for Panasonic goes beyond technical expertise. "Seeing a coworker make the switch to Panasonic and watching them thrive in every aspect of their life inspires me,” she says.

Edward Ho, Global Mobility Specialist, joined Panasonic Energy in 2023, seeking a fresh start. “What drew me in was how painless the interview process was. It was clear that Panasonic values people, was efficient and understood the needs of humans in general. It only got better once I joined.”

Ho’s reason for loving his work at Panasonic Energy is straightforward: “I get paid to do what I love!”

What makes the culture truly meaningful to him is its evolving nature. "It’s up to us to create the Panasonic Energy that we envision. This approach fosters a positive environment, creates great opportunities and encourages people to speak up when they might not otherwise,” Ho shares.

The Why Wall is a reflection of the culture, values and momentum that make Panasonic Energy a great place to work. Whether it’s the excitement of innovation, the strength of community, or the clarity of purpose, the wall reminds us that Panasonic Energy is powered by people.
