Wellness Through Connection

Have you ever noticed how feeling connected at work can transform your entire day? This August, in honor of National Wellness Month, we’re shining a spotlight on the powerful role that connections, both with our colleagues and with the deeper purpose behind our work, play in supporting our well-being.

A recent Gallup study found that organizations with highly engaged employees see 14% higher productivity. That’s no coincidence - connection lays the foundation that empowers us to bring our whole selves to work. To dive deeper, we asked two Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America (PECNA) employees to share how feeling connected has shaped their experiences. Their stories highlight how connection not only nurtures individual wellness but also strengthens our shared sense of purpose.

Walking a Mile in Another’s Shoes

“I try to apply a holistic mentality when I go out into the world and into the workplace,” shares Jamila Wright, HR Business Partner of Assembly at PECNA. “We are all running the race of the human experience and it’s important to always stop and take a moment to walk in someone else’s shoes.” For Wright, wellness means fostering an environment where every person feels seen, heard and included. “I strive to always create a safe psychological space for my team, as well as our employees, where they can be their best individual selves. Being of service to others and making an impact feeds my sense of well-being, connectedness and purpose at work and in life,” she says.

How Shared Values Fuel Resilience and Motivation

Anna Savala, HR Business Partner of Assembly and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) at PECNA, highlights the power of aligning daily work with a meaningful mission. “Knowing that our work in HR contributes to accelerating a more sustainable future deeply aligns with my personal values and brings real meaning to what I do each day.” For her, collaborating with like-minded colleagues provides strength, especially during challenging moments. “Whether we’re addressing sensitive employee concerns, supporting people through complex situations or driving engagement initiatives, our shared sense of purpose keeps me resilient, grounded and energized through challenges,” Savala shares.
